Felicia & Styling for Your Upcoming Senior Session

Updated: Mar 16, 2021

Felicia is one of my three senior reps this year! Even though Covid has put a damper on her senior year she has been making it a year to remember. She has traveled to Washington to be with her family, as well as Florida. There are perks of remote learning; you can do it from anywhere. I am totally jealous of her!

I am glad we got her photos scheduled in, because this was the perfect time of year with the leaves changing! I might be partial to spring, but fall is a close runner up. The leaves compliment golden hour so well. Ahhh, I just love all the warmth of fall!

Something I wanted to talk about today was picking out outfits for your senior shoot! Obviously you want to look at totes adorbs right!? So, this is my theory, pick one outfit you feel like you kill it in and one to please the parents and grandparents. If you want to go above and beyond you can choose a more formal look and a simple one as well, it really depends on how much time you book!

What I recommend is to make sure the outfits reflect you! Makes sense right? These are pictures that are going to capture you at this time in your life!

So here are my dos and don'ts- take it with a grain of salt!

Do:

  • Wear accessories

  • It can add depth and you can take them off making your outfit a little different! So hats, sunglasses, jackets, jewelry, you name it!

  • Bring “your thing”

  • What I mean is a basketball, violin, rubix cube, medals from 4-H! Show the world what you excel in!

  • Do your nails or trim them so you don't see chipped nail polish in the pictures!

  • Wear something fun! Add patterns and color just make sure not to go overboard!

Don't:

  • Wear a graphic-tee. There are some exceptions on this one; I have seen some really stylish, vintage tees being rocked, but I would recommend not wearing a shirt with their brand logo across it. It brings the attention to the shirt and not you.

  • Wear fabrics that wrinkle easily. There is only so much photoshop can do!

  • Wear something you are uncomfortable in! It will show in the pictures.

I hope this helps you with the hustle and bustle of trying to figure out outfits for your special day! Once you book a senior session with me, I will send you a more in depth version of a style guide! So what are you waiting for?
